A lot is happening at CPC these days. We’re growing and growth brings change. Our North Campus will meet at their beautiful new Crestmoor facility this Sunday for the first time. Plans are underway to open our South Campus sometime in Spring 2012. Finally, our Foster City Campus will soon add a third service due to overcrowding.
A few weeks ago, we took a survey in our morning services at the Foster City campus to find out when the best time would be to add a third service. About half of those who responded said they would be willing to move to a new service. Of those willing to make a change, the numbers were split between those who wanted a Saturday evening service and those who wanted a Sunday afternoon service. With that in mind, and also taking into consideration the challenges the extra service will present to our staff, we’ve decided to hold our third service on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pm. We hope this will be a time that will be convenient for those returning home from a weekend away, as well as for those with young children who need to get them to bed early on a Sunday night.
Our third service will be essentially identical to our two morning services. The preaching will be live. CPCKids will offer the same things they do on Sunday mornings (nursery through 4th grade). We will even sell pizza and soft drinks for those who want to hang out for awhile and eat dinner!
Adding a third service will take a lot of work. We need a critical mass of people who are willing to help this service be a success. With that in mind, we’re asking for you to consider making a commitment. First, we’d like at least 100 people to commit to regularly attend this third service for one year. Second, we need people to commit to serve: ushers, greeters, tech support, tear down crew and folks to work in our CPCKids ministry.
Commitment cards will be placed in the bulletins for the next two Sundays. Cards will also be available at the church office and the Information Center. If you’re planning on attending the South Campus in the future, we’d love for you to attend this service but there is no need to fill out a commitment card since you’ll soon be asked to do the same for your involvement in the South Campus.
God is blessing CPC in so many ways and we’re so grateful for your faithfulness. We understand the changes that come with growth can be challenging, but we feel all these things are necessary to fulfill our mission “to make and mature more followers of Christ.” We ask that you prayerfully consider how He’s calling you to respond.
Warmly in Christ,
Mark Mitchell
