Music fills the courts of heaven as heavenly beings praise our Lord and Creator. When God created the world, the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy (Job 38:7). God created man in His own image, to be an instrument of praise. He gave us the ability to sing and to make music with musical instruments to complement the voice.
Music has such an important role in our ministry. It takes us to a place that allows us to become vulnerable and open our hearts. It prepares us to receive that specific Word from God, bearing new insights, changing us from the inside out.
Many of us in our addictions spent time listening to music as an escape from those uncomfortable places. Today we choose to listen to music as a door for the Lord to enter in and conform those places by His grace.
Many of our musicians drive long distances to worship at Higher Power. Although we offer them a small honorarium, they are not in it for the money. Hardly! They appreciate our ministry and identify with those areas of our lives that have been damaged or hurt. They, too, have been there. Some of the most inspirational musicians create out of the depth of their own pain.
At Higher Power we celebrate a variety of genres; from classic Rock and Roll to R & B, from Jazz fusion to Gospel, from old Negro spirituals to Ska or Bluegrass. There is never a dull moment. You will be inspired as we lift our hands, fall on our knees, sit in our seats or dance like David danced. There is always the freedom to be who you are and express your praises in a way you feel most comfortable!
