Is this a new church?
No, this is an expansion of CPC. It will be the same church with the same elders, mission, core values and doctrinal statement. We will refer to all of our sites as CPC "campuses," differentiated by their location, i.e. CPC Foster City, CPC Millbrae, CPC San Carlos.
How will the new campuses be led?
Central Peninsula Church will be one church with multiple locations. All of the campuses will be led in the same way CPC Foster City is currently ledby the elders. In addition, each CPC campus will have a dedicated Campus Pastor, who will work with a team of staff and volunteer leaders to help, “Make and mature more followers of Christ.” The first campus will be north and the Campus Pastor will be Rob Hall.
Who will be preaching at the new campuses?
The weekend services will be “live” in every way with a worship leader and team along with a pastoral presence. Currently, we are considering a mix of both live and video sermons, with the majority of teaching presented through video from CPC Foster City. However, the Campus Pastor will also preach live at the north campus and possibly at the Foster City campus as well. We are even open to on occasion the Foster City Campus having video teaching for its Sunday services or occasionally having Mark Mitchell or Justin Buzzard teach live at the north campus.
When and where will the north campus launch?
Rather than determining a timeline and location and expect God to follow our plan, we are following God. We believe this to be critical to the success of the campus. A date for the first public service will be determined as the preparations progress and trained leaders and volunteers are ready. Currently we are aiming for the fall of 2008 or early 2009. As far as location, we are targeting every city north of San Mateo and South of San Francisco. At this point, Burlingame and Milbrae are the most viable options and places where God is opening doors.
What ministries will be offered at the new campuses?
Each campus will offer weekly worship services, children’s ministries, student ministries, and community groups. Additionally, those committed to each campus will serve and reach out to their local community. There will also be many ways to serve at each campus. Some examples are:
- Welcome & connection ministries
- Hospitality
- Set-up & Take-down
- Prayer & caring ministries
- Community Groups
- Community outreach
- Local Missions
- Audio/Visual Support
- Children’s & Student Ministries
In addition, each campus will encourage participation at CPC Foster City mid-week ministries (Women’s Bible Study, Men’s Fraternity, Twenties, Higher Power) as well as participation in large corporate events (Retreats, Outdoor service, etc.).
What about my current ministries and involvement at CPC Foster City?
As we launch new campuses, all existing ministries will continue and will be composed of people who worship at different campuses. However, each new campus will need committed followers of Christ who are willing to be sent as pioneers. That means for most, participation in CPC Foster City ministries will need to be prayerfully evaluated. No one will be forced to do anything they do not want to do, but we all must be careful to not overextend ourselves at either campus. Furthermore, our pastoral staff and directors are preparing to send some of their leaders to each new campus. We are trusting God to fill in gaps at each campus. Starting new campuses will be a great way to see God raise up new leaders in our Body.
